Ficksburg was proclaimed a Town on the 16th June 1867 and a Magisterial District in 1891.Namee after Boer General, General Fick. By 1883 there were 150 settlers living in Ficksburg. Many erven were allocated among which were erven 292,293,294and 295 bounded by,Voortrekker Street,Ambracht Street, Van Soelen Street and the Beautiful Toorn Street, which is lined on both sides by Magnificent Oak trees.
